Counselor P/T
Job Description
Summary
Under general guidance, this
position develops, organizes, and conducts programs to provide treatment for
conditions and problems relating to drug and alcohol abuse. Conducts
individualized substance abuse counseling sessions and updates and maintains
timely and thorough file updates.
Primary Duties and
Responsibilities
- Provides individual and in group sessions, to assist in
overcoming substance dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes.
- Completes and maintains accurate records and reports
regarding the client' histories and progress, services provided, and other
required information.
- Develops individualized client treatment plans based on
research, clinical experience, and client histories.
- Reviews and evaluates clients' progress in relation to
measurable goals described in treatment and care plans.
- Modifies treatment plans to comply with changes in
client status.
- Provides relevant substance abuse information in a
classroom-like environment.
- Facilitates and co-facilitates educational
presentations and group counseling on substance related matters.
- Maintains knowledge of new developments in the field of
substance abuse.
- Maintains professional relationships with other
substance abuse professionals, programs, and associations.
- Participates in related training for substance abuse.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, or human
services and certification as an Addiction Professional (CAP).
- LMHC/CAP preferred.
- Experience in individualized counseling preferred.
- Working knowledge of the Twelve Step Program of
Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
- Ability to interact in a professional manner in both
individual and group counseling settings.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with a team of professionals and have
the ability to implement team strategy approaches to work assignments.
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary
software typically used by the department.

Facilitate four placements per week
Identify and develop opportunities to match client
interests/skills and qualifications
Cultivate relationships with employers through
networking/marketing

Ensure quality and effective
assessment services
Use 'Discovery Process' as a model to determine strengths/opportunities and
interest of
clients
Develop assessment sites based upon employment goals
Develop two new assessment site per week by networking
Ensure assessment is complete within one week from contract date

Ensure each client has an
appropriate career plan
Lead the process for client job development activities
Complete agency reporting and other requirements
Required skills/abilities:
Present professionalism especially with potential employers; ability to
prioritize, problem solve and plan independently; considerable multi-tasking
experience; effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to
obtain Class E driver’s license within required timeline; demonstrated
skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint applications etc); ability
to work based on client need (flexibility in scheduling time)
At least 1 year of experience with
job development with supported employment experience required; Bachelor’s
degree in Human Services or related field preferred (Sociology, Psychology,
Criminal Justice, etc).
